Oof. Yep—I went there. 😅

We of course moved past it and shared a beautiful, close relationship. But now? My adult son loves to bring it up and tease me, knowing full well I’d never let him get away with that kind of sass.

My mom is gone now, but this note? It brought her voice—and mine—right back to me.

I just finished a Legacy Lab course with @permanent_org and wow—what a powerful experience. 🧡

Archives aren’t just storage. They’re a way to preserve the stories, voices, and little details that make someone unforgettable.

I started an archive for my amazing mom, Judie Maze, and tucked inside was something we’d never seen before—her unfinished autobiography.

Page one? A jaw-dropping story:
On the night of Judie’s birth, her mom went into labor during a blizzard.
She told NO ONE—not her husband upstairs or her parents downstairs—and walked alone to the hospital in the snow.
The next morning, her family searched everywhere until her mom said, “I’ll bet she’s at the hospital.”
And she was. Holding baby Judie. 💛

Judie wrote that her mother thought she was a pretty ugly newborn (honesty was kind of her thing 😂)—but let’s be real, most babies are a little squishy.

The autobiography ends with me, pregnant with her first grandchild. She left blanks for the baby’s name and gender… then never came back to finish it. I’m guessing she wrote it in 1990, and discovering it now feels like a little time capsule we didn’t know existed. 🕰

Now that I know how powerful archiving can be, I’m offering this service to others through my business, a-MAZE-ing Memories.

🐘🐘📷 27 elephant photos? While sorting through my mom’s photos using the ABC Method (A for Album-worthy, B for Backup, C for Can—gulp!), I found an envelope filled with Safari pictures.
